Last week we took a trip out of the office to go and have a fun morning of crafting with Year 2 children at Holy Family School, Barrow-in-Furness.
Mrs McGuire and the fab team of teachers and helpers wanted the kids to create something special to tie in with their recent topic on habitats.
Dogs Greetings Cards.
Beautiful Watercolour Doggie Greeting Cards Designed by Claire at Felltarn.
Claire’s got ANOTHER dog! That’s three now: Pixie (Chihuahua); Charlie (Toy Pomeranian); and now Bruce (Chihuahua)! Such cuties – they’re a total comedy act all playing around together and following Claire absolutely everywhere, twelve paws pitter-pattering behind her; Claire’s Disciples, I call them, ha!
When they’re all settled (takes a while…) we have been getting cracking on our latest design project – Greetings Cards! Claire, being The Creative One (although change is afoot – stay tuned to find out more… It’s quite funny…) put pencil to paper and came up with a beautiful design for a dog themed Greeting Card, featuring nine cute canine breeds. → Read more
Felltarn Designs and Creates for Award Winning Lake District Country House Hotels! Felltarn offers bespoke design work for children’s clubs in hotels – one of which was Holbie Hedgehog at Holbeck Ghyll.
We have been extremely busy with bespoke design projects lately (you’ve probably noticed all the Egyptian designs that Claire’s been creating!) And we’ve had another exciting project on the go, but this one is a little closer to home. → Read more
Here at Felltarn HQ on the outskirts of Kendal, surrounded by lush green rolling hills, numerous sheep, freshwater becks, moss covered stone walls and secluded woodland, we are never short of inspiration for any of our projects. Lake District, country-chic themed designs are what we are associated with.
Imagine our total surprise when a new enquiry came through out of the blue from a company that LOVE the Felltarn Friends’ design and style, all the way from Cairo, Egypt! Wow!
Diwan Bookstore are Egypt’s largest chain of bookshops – (think Waterstone’s), and they have been enjoying a huge boost in sales from the current craze sweeping the globe for colouring-in books. → Read more
Of course there are thousands of experiences to be had in the Lake District, and often the most challenging part of your visit can be choosing what to do! There are all those fells to climb and lakes to go boating on (well, which boat would you prefer? Kayak? Canoe? Sailing boat? Steamer? Rowing Boat…?) Wow! Where to start?!
Why not start with the “Felltarn Friends Lake District Adventures” family guide to the Lake District? It really is the perfect way to plan your trip and will entertain the family for hours with the puzzles, games, crafts, facts, jokes, ideas for fabulous family days out, colouring-in sections, and of course the Felltarn Friends themselves: our eight delightful animal characters who feature throughout the book’s 96 beautifully designed pages.
Each of the Felltarn Friends have their own unique personality with favourite Lake District locations, favourite foods (very important in this area!) and favourite activities. We’re sure you and your children will fall in love with these characters – you must see our range of country gifts including limited edition handmade patchwork dolls of Alice Rabbit and Harry Fox! → Read more
Last year, Felltarn Friends made their first appearance at one of the county’s most prestigious garden festivals – Holker. It was a great success, and a wonderful way to showcase the book and few other bits and bobs as we had back then. This year, we went a little bonkers and decided to have a stall at Holker Garden Festival and Country Fest… At the same time! (Yes, crazy, I know…)!!
But just look how the Felltarn Friends range has grown into such a beautiful array of delightful goodies. We’re very proud of everything, from the little Activity Bags with the heart-tree or boat design to choose from (and such a lot of treats inside), to the soft snuggly Baby Comforter, lovingly handmade by Sarah Fletcher. We can boast our own clothing range! Imagine! Little Tees with a patchwork air balloon, and a little Felltarn Felt Finger Puppet sitting in the basket. I mean who doesn’t want one? Oh and how could I forget the patchwork dolls? → Read more
I think it’s time we got up to date with all the Felltarn fun that occurred over the Easter holidays! We hope the Easter Bunny brought you all lots of yummy treats – do you have anything left..? Some of you will still be enjoying the break, and others will be back at school already. But which of you came colouring and crafting with us at Westmorland Shopping Centre in Kendal? Wasn’t it FAB?!
What did you all create with us? Well, there were the cutest Easter Cards, Easter Baskets and Easter Bunting which you decorated with a wonderful combination of colourful feathers, buttons, ribbon and felt. The Bug Bunting was as popular as ever – I love how you all get so excited about spiders when it’s time to craft your own… Not so scary when they’re made out of card, pipecleaners and googly eyes are they… Ha ha! And what about the Felltarn Friends Wibbly Arms Puppets? Simply fabulous creations guys – I hope you remembered to write your name on the Friends Wall? → Read more
Not many people know this, but ever since Amy and I first began turning the Felltarn Friends dream into reality we had a wonderful vision of the cute creatures being made into handmade soft toys for all to enjoy. Finally, this dream is becoming a reality, and very soon we will have a gorgeous collection of Limited Edition, Handmade, Felltarn Friends Dolls! We can barely contain our excitement and just have to share the story with you. → Read more
Those of you who’ve already seen the Activity Packs that we launched last year will know that inside the fun-filled goody bags is (among a host of other cute offerings) a woodland finger puppet to colour in and play with. But now we have taken this idea a step further and created a set of Felltarn Friends Finger Puppets – they’re simply delightful!
Today, I made the short trip into Kendal to pick up our first delivery of Felltarn Friends Finger Puppets from our wonderful local printer – thanks Alastair! The process of creating this latest product for our range started only a few weeks ago, sitting by the fire in the evening sketching the Felltarn Friends.
We made gorgeous heart bunting with salt dough and then painted each heart and decorated it.
We tied some ribbon and strung them together with twine.
One of my favourite crafts, follow our Salt Dough Recipe Below:
